MentaliTea

cognitive tea blend
Mentalitea 002

Introduction

A foggy brain makes even the most ordinary activities a stressful struggle and can result in compulsive eating in a vain attempt to force the brain to function better. That’s when BalaFive™’s MentaliTea comes to the rescue.

MentaliTea contains special ingredients to ramp up alertness, memory, and motivation to succeed at short-term and long-range goals. This beverage also helps to reduce stress, improve the absorption of nutrients, and strengthen immune function while controlling appetite and fat production.

MentaliTea targets all five systems, Sensory, Digestive, Fat Cells Metabolism, and Endocrine, with special emphasis on 1 by increasing feel-good brain chemicals and sharpened thinking.

Ingredients

MentaliTea is a unique combination of botanicals renown for their effect on mind and body: AstraGin™, Cereboost™, Citicholine, Saffron Extract, Rhodiola, Zembrin®, and Black Pepper.

AstraGin™

ASTRAGIN™ is a standardized combination of two well-researched Chinese roots, Panax notoginseng and Astragalus membranaceus. Astragin™ enhances the absorption of essential nutrients important to weight management and boosts daily energy. Astragin™ also raises levels of serotonin, the chemical messenger that reduces stress and depression, improves sleep, and diminishes compulsive eating.

Saffron Extract

SAFFRON EXTRACT from the saffron flower acts via the reuptake inhibition of dopamine, glutamate, norepinephrine and serotonin. It improves memory, inhibits neuronal degeneration, has anti-oxidative properties and reduces signs of depression. Safranal, one of the main components in Saffron Extract increases serotonin concentration in the synapses, which correspondingly increases the propagation signals that influence satiety and mood. Serotonin deficiency has been linked to stress-induced carbohydrate cravings.

Cereboost™

CEREBOOST™ is a patent pending extract from a mildly stimulatory herb called American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius), which specifically targets cognitive function, improving alertness and memory.

Citicoline

CITICOLINE is a registered version of the naturally stimulating brain chemical citicoline. It improves blood circulation to the brain, prevents strokes, and improves memory, focus, vision, and attention. In cases of weight management CITICOLINE increases the major “reward” neurotransmitter dopamine and increases blood flow to the brain, improving glucose metabolism and reducing cravings and appetite.

ElevATP™

ELEVATP™ is a proprietary cold water extract, which is a combination of “ancient peat” (fossilized plants) extract and apple extract that works with our natural energy-producing mechanisms to stimulate production of ATP. ATP is the major intracellular energy source produced by the mitochondria. It is necessary for many physiological processes, including many extracellular functions. Aging decreases the amount of ATP in cells and the ability to produce it.

Trehalose

TREHALOSE is a naturally occurring disaccharide with multiple benefits. Effective as a cell membrane protectant with antioxidant properties, TREHALOSE is used as a mild sweetener to produce lower insulin response and as a source for energy. It has also been the focus of brain studies for its neuroprotective effects.

Rhodiola Rosea

RHODIOLA ROSEA is a quick-acting antianxiety and antidepressant herb from the high altitudes of Europe and Asia. It has centuries of use to improve energy and immune function, enhance memory, and sharpen focus. It can work quicker than pharmaceutical antidepressants, and helps break down belly fat and burn fat as fuel.

Welltrim® IG

WELLTRIM® IG is a standardized extract of the seeds of African mango, Irvingia gabonensis. It contributes to weight management by improving the function of several key hormones that control appetite, satiety, fat burning, insulin sensitivity, and the conversion of sugar into fat. WellTrim® IG also helps increase metabolic rate. The results are a reduction in percent of body fat, waist size, and hip size.

Zembrin®

ZEMBRIN® is a registered standardized extract of the medicinal succulent Sceletium tortuosum. It has a long history of use among the San and Khoi peoples of South Africa to relieve depression, stress, and anxiety and promote a feeling of wellbeing. Scientists have discovered that the herb can also increase motivation and energy, improve time management, attention to details, and self control.

Black Pepper

BLACK PEPPER is a 4,000 year old spice and medicine created when the unripe seed berries from the Piper nigrum flowering vine are dried and ground. Black pepper can help improve digestion and the assimilation of nutrients. It also improves immune function and helps reduce depression, pain, and inflammation. It stimulates the breakdown of fat cells and inhibits their production, and helps eliminate excess fluids from the body thereby aiding weight loss.
Each of the botanical ingredients in MentaliTea is categorized by the Food and Drug Administration as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS).

Clinical Indications

Astragin™

Astragin™ research indicates a positive result in weight management in three significant ways: Astragin™ increases absorption of arginine, which is an amino acid that helps with fat burning, by 66.7%. Astragin™ also increases absorption of tryptophan, which is the amino acid that builds the feel-good brain chemical serotonin, by 52.5%.. And, Astragin™ increases vitamin absorption by 50%.

Cereboost™

Cognitive functions such as reaction time, alertness, and working memory improved significantly in the first clinical study to show American ginseng’s usefulness in improving brain function. Cereboost™ earned the NutrAward 2010 for the best new evidence-based ingredient of the year.

Citicoline

Focus, concentration, and alertness improve with the use of CITICOLINE thanks to its proven ability to increase stimulating brain chemicals such as dopamine and phosphatidylcholine. CITICOLINE helps reverse brain wave abnormalities in the elderly and protects nerve tissue including the brain from free radical damage.

Saffron Extract

In a study of mildly overweight women those taking the saffron supplement significantly reduced their snacking and lost more weight than those taking a placebo. In other studies saffron proved more effective than placebo in successfully reducing depression and was equally effective as two commonly prescribed antidepressant pharmaceuticals.

ElevATP™

ELEVATP™ is comprised of Ancient Peat Moss and Apple Extracts. Clinically proven to increase the body’s ATP (energy production), which is responsible for endurance and energy and increases oxygen and glucose delivery to muscles.

Supplementation with ATP promotes muscle energy metabolism and healthy aging. In two groups (N = 9 each) of healthy human volunteers, 150 mg of encapsulated ELEVATP™ orally administered, increased blood ATP levels by 64% over placebo without lactate or ROS levels changes.

Trehalose

Studies suggest that ingestion of TREHALOSE, a naturally occurring disaccharide, may have protective effect in promoting brain health. There is potential for both prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Such diseases include Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, and the less common triplet repeat diseases. Recent scientific publications describe TREHALOSE benefit in model systems that recapitulate aggregate pathology that characterize Alzheimer's (AD), Huntington's (HD), and occulopharyngeal muscular dystrophy (OPMD). This is especially exciting in light of this agent’s well documented safety profile and GRAS approval for use in the United States.

Rhodiola Rosea

Human double blind studies of physicians, students, and others find rhodiola significantly lowers depression, enhances short-term memory, reduces fatigue, anxiety, and insomnia, and improves concentration and mental health compared to placebo.

Welltrim® IG

A double-blind, placebo-controlled human study of overweight and obese subjects concluded with those taking WellTrim® IG enjoying a reduction in body weight, body fat, waist size, fasting blood sugar, and leptin (a hormone produced by fat cells that increases appetite and weight), and an increase in adiponectin (a hormone produced by fat cells that helps reduce insulin sensitivity and weight). (CR)

Zembrin®

A double-blind, placebo-controlled, cross-over study of 20 healthy middle aged adults reported improved executive function such as the ability to shift attention between tasks and respond to changing directions for a project, exercise initiative, stay disciplined, and keep impulses under control.

Black Pepper

Using an animal cell model scientists found piperine in black pepper interferes with genes that control the formation of new fat cells. In other studies piperine enhanced the burning of fat cells for energy.
